The government remains committed to implementing the key reforms outlined in the European Commission’s 2020 report on North Macedonia and organizing an effective accession dialogue with the European Union. EU integration process remains a strategic priority for development, stability and prosperity of the country and we remain committed to this process, Minister of Information Society and Administration Jeton Shaqiri said Tuesday addressing the 17th EU-Republic of North Macedonia Subcommittee meeting on Innovation, Information Society and Social Policy.

Shaqiri, who addressed the online event as co-chair, highlighted the country’s commitment to fulfilling all tasks within the Subcommittee, despite all the challenges arising from the pandemic.

He underlined the importance of maintaining regular dialogue between North Macedonia and the European Commission within the Stabilization and Association Agreement.

“This Subcommittee is crucial for establishing and promoting ongoing dialogue in important areas such as education and culture, information society and media, social policy and employment, and science and research,” Shaqiri noted.

The meeting also tackled the progress regarding the recommendations of the EC 2020 Progress Report on North Macedonia as well as the implementation of the conclusions of the 2020 EU-Republic of North Macedonia Subcommittee meeting on Innovation, Information Society and Social Policy.

The Subcommittee on Innovation, Information Society and Social Policy is one of the bodies for dialogue between the Republic of North Macedonia and the European Union, established within the Stabilization and Association Committee. Meetings are held once a year, to discuss matters related to implementation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement in areas covered under this subcommittee.
