Complete digitization of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for organized crime and corruption, setting up an electronic system for inspections (e-inspector), digitization of books of the Office for Management of Registers of Births, Marriages and Deaths, are some of the measures that the Government has adopted within the Anti-Corruption Plan.

Prime Minister Zoran Zaev told a press conference on Tuesday that the Government and the citizens are on the same side in the fight against corruption, saying digitization of the prosecutor’s offices would speed up the completion of cases.

“We have launched a process of equipping and digitizing the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the investigative centers within the 23 basic prosecutor’s offices across the country, as well as the Prosecutor’s Office for organized crime and corruption,” said PM Zaev.

According to him, cases will no longer be kept in drawers but resolved swiftly.

The electronic inspection system ‘e-inspector’ would ensure the networking of all 28 inspection services under the jurisdiction of the Inspection Council.

“This system will significantly eliminate the human factor and the subjective approach in the management of cases. Moreover, the books of the Office for Management of Registers of Births, Marriages and Deaths will be fully digitized, meaning that citizens will be able to electronically receive these documents,” noted Zaev.

He also said the system of whistleblower protection is also advanced.

“All institutions will have to designate a person to whom whistleblowers can report over corruption suspicions. In this way we raise the people’s awareness and encourage them to report corruption cases,” noted Zaev.
