The epidemiological situation in kindergartens and daycare centers for people with special needs is stable. They remain open, but the number of children attending kindergartens according to the health safety protocols in place will not increase.
“According to the latest weekly report, there are three pre-school aged children who tested positive for COVID-19 and 18 members of the staff. At the moment, the number of children in kindergarten is the highest – 13,350 children out of 21,300, which is the number allowed in kindergartens according to protocols,” Minister of Labor and Social Policy Jagoda Shahpaska said Tuesday.
As the weather is getting warmer, she said, parents are more willing to send their children to kindergarten, however the number of children in kindergartens will not increase.
“The Commission for Infectious Diseases stands firm that the number cannot be increased and that it remains the same,” Shaphaska said.
Kindergartens according to the protocols take in toddlers under 2 in groups of 12 and children aged 2-6 are in groups of at least 15.
The Labor Minister also stated that the situation is also stable in daycare centers for people with special needs. At the moment, 5-6 members of the staff and eight people attending the centers are self-isolating.
