Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani and UN Resident Coordinator in North Macedonia, Rossana Dudziak, co-chaired on Thursday the first Joint Steering Committee meeting on the implementation of the 2021-2025 United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
Minister of Labor and Social Policy Jagoda Shahpaska, Minister of Education and Science Mila Carovska, Health Minister Venko Filipche, and Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Naser Nuredini also participated in the meeting as members of the Committee, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.
FM Osmani highlighted modalities for most appropriate use of the UN’s support to North Macedonia in terms of implementing development priorities.
“We want to achieve change that is sustainable, visible to end users – our citizens, resulting in a better legislative framework, more efficient, effective and accountable institutions,” Osmani pointed out.
Participants in the first Joint Steering Committee meeting reviewed national priorities in the area of sustainable development, and approved key documents on implementing the 2021-2025 UN Cooperation Framework.
The 2021-2025 United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework with North Macedonia is a strategic program framework on UN activities in the country. It includes a set of activities of the UN system agencies to support the country in addressing the priorities and challenges towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
