Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi on Thursday once again urged the opposition to be constructive and enable the passing of laws in Parliament in order to implement the fifth stimulus package as soon as possible.

Bekteshi also called on the opposition to contribute to improving economic measures if it has ideas acceptable to the chambers of commerce.

According to him, it’s unlikely that bills would get stuck in parliament, as he’s convinced the opposition won’t allow that. However, he noted, blockades are possible in the commissions by submitting additional amendments that would have nothing to do with the legal solutions.

“I urge the opposition to support measures that benefit the businesses, employees and the citizens. I’m convinced that several of the commissions, chaired by representatives of the opposition, where these legal solutions need to be reviewed in order to implement them, will find a way to work together and adopt them sooner, so as to implement the measures,” Bekteshi said in response to a reporter’s question after the opening of the 5th Macedonian Travel Marketplace in Skopje.

According to the Economy Minister, if a comparison is made with other countries, North Macedonia is currently almost the most relaxed in terms of protocols and restrictions.

“We’re certainly in contact with all neighboring countries, talks are ongoing. We’re convinced that conferences and events such as this one today where all stakeholders are involved, will help us bring as many foreign tourists as possible. In terms of outgoing tourism, it depends not only on our country, but also other countries where our citizens would like to spend their holidays,” Bekteshi said.

In the coming months, he added, restrictions will be discussed with the countries – they should be identical for the citizens to be able to travel.
