UNESCO’s draft-report about Ohrid is a loud alarm about the situation with the Lake Ohrid region which imposes an enormous need for the highest level of engagement by all parties, so that all risks that are jeopardizing the Lake Ohrid will be removed. This is one of the conclusions from the meeting between Prime Minister Zoran Zaev and the Deputy Prime Minister in Charge of Economic Affairs, Fatmir Bitiki, the Minister of Culture Irena Stefoska, the Minister of Environment, Naser Nuredini, the Minister of Transport and Communication, Blagoj Bochvarski, and the Director of Macedonian Railways- Infrastructure Hari Lokvenec.
At the meeting, which was summoned due to the most worrisome report issued by the Mission from UNESCO concerning the endangerment of the natural and cultural heritage in Ohrid region that is one step from being put on a list of endangered world heritage, it was stressed that the Government will insist on demolishing all illegal constructions that are endangering the Ohrid region. Prime Minister Zaev confirmed the Government’s determination to preserve Ohrid’s status as a world heritage in order to the region, the rule of law, and the improvement of people’s living standards./META
