Angel Angelov, Bulgaria’s Ambassador to North Macedonia, has delivered a sharp note verbale to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following reports of a Bulgarian flag being set on fire at the Vevchani Carnival.
Ambassador Angelov has already spoken to Macedonian diplomats to condemn the act of vandalism, according to Bulgarian media reports citing an announcement issued by the Bulgarian MoFA.
“Upon receiving information that a Bulgarian flag was burned in the village of Vevchani in the Republic of North Macedonia,” FM Zaharieva said in a social media post, “I asked the Bulgarian Ambassador in Skopje to express to the Republic of North Macedonia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bulgaria’s strong indignation at this act of vandalism.”
