42% of the respondents in the poll conducted by the Institute for Communication Studies as part of the “Clear Waters” campaign consider themselves the biggest polluters of the waters in Macedonia. One third of the respondents, or 33%, consider that the processing industry is the biggest polluter of the waters, while 10% consider the mining capacities as the biggest polluters.
“More than half of the respondents (57%) aren’t informed about the quality of the water in their municipality and a high percentage (94%) consider it is important to monitor consistently the surface and underground waters. Despite that, 60% of the respondents consider the drinking water in their municipality suitable for drinking, and 53% of those that live in the rural areas consider the irrigation water as quality,” states the press release issued by the Institute for Communication Studies.
The poll was conductete in the period between 30th of November and 6th of December 2020 with 1.100 respondents aged above 18.
