Vlado Buchkovski, the special envoy of the Government of North Macedonia for Bulgaria, will be paying a working visit to Sofia on Monday, according to reports in Bulgarian media. No official confirmation has been issued from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yet.
According to the MoFA, Buchkovski’s role is to make frequent trips to Sofia to encourage cooperation between the countries’ foreign ministries.
Bulgarian media report that Buchkovski will be in Sofia over several days.
He previously traveled to Bulgaria in early December, when he met with Zakharieva, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, and Defense Minister Krasimir Karakachanov.
Over the weekend, the MoFA reported that Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani had communicated with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ekhaterina Zakharieva last week to align the countries’ future activities.
Talking to Radio Free Europe on Sunday, Minister Osmani said the solutions to outstanding bilateral issues would be found by implementing the Friendship Treaty and by finding mechanisms to implement its provisions faster.
