The Parliament endorsed Wednesday the decision on declaring a nationwide state of crisis until 30 June 2021 by 61 “Yes” votes, with none abstained and against since the opposition did not attend the session.
The decision will extend the month-long state of crisis that was set to expire on December 19 by further six months.
Under the state of crisis, a portion of the Army members were engaged in the physical security of COVID centers, while the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Health, the Army, the Crisis Management Center and the Protection and Rescue Directorate were tasked with putting all capacities and resources at disposal.
MPs also endorsed by 61 “Yes” votes the draft-Law on Census of Population, Households and Apartments in Republic of North Macedonia in the first reading.
The Census is scheduled to be launched on 1 April 2021, implemented by the State Statistical Office, with final data expected after six months. The operation will be administered through a combined method, including e-questionnaires at laptops and communication with databases from which data is to be extracted and complemented with that collected from the field.
Lawmakers also voted to appoint Ixhet Memeti and Ljupcho Ivanovski as members of the Council of Public Prosecutors, as well as Pavlina Crvenkovska as member of the Judicial Council.
