Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani held Wednesday a meeting with the Head of the EU Delegation, Ambassador David Geer, to discuss the aligning of the negotiating framework in the EU, the Council of the EU meeting scheduled on Dec. 8, and the efforts aimed at settling bilateral differences with Bulgaria, the Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
“We particularly appreciate the active engagement and the principled attitude of the European Commission on a consensus being reached among EU member states regarding the draft negotiating framework for North Macedonia and the scheduling of the First Intergovernmental Conference during the German Presidency with the Council of the EU by the end of 2020,” Minister Osmani said.
There’s no alternative or Plan B to the EU accession negotiations process, he stressed.
“Regardless of the outcome of the Council meeting in December, North Macedonia will remain committed to implementing the EU-related reforms and promoting good-neighbourly relations with all its neighbours, including Bulgaria, in accordance with the Friendship Treaty,” the Minister concluded.
Furthermore, Osmani and Geer also discussed current political developments in the country, the situation involving the Covid-19 pandemic, developments in the region, as well as the implementation of the benefits of the successful joint presidency of North Macedonia and Bulgaria with the Berlin Process, said the press release.
