We are investing EUR 50 million in the road infrastructure to connect with Bulgaria, Minister of Transport and Communications Blagoj Bochvarski said Tuesday while overseeing the reconstruction activities of the road Trstija-Bigla.
Bochvarski noted that the investments in new roads in country’s eastern part are investments in good neighbourliness and that they will enable better connection and cooperation of municipalities, businesses and citizens on both sides of the border.
He said that the Ministry of Transport and Communications is investing even more in the construction of new roads in the eastern part of the country. The first section of the expressway Shtip-Kochani has already been constructed, while the second section is under construction that is very important for connecting Shtip and Kochani, but also for connecting this region with the border crossing with Bulgaria, Bochvarski said, adding that Makedonska Kamenica-Delchevo road has already been reconstructed.
“We are investing EUR 50 million in the road infrastructure that connect the Republic of North Macedonia and Bulgaria aimed at municipalities and business sector on both sides of the borders to connect. We are investing in good neighbourliness and road infrastructure,” Bochvarski said.
He also added that Berovo-Klepalo road has been reconstructed, which is one of the interests of both countries for opening another border crossing. By communicating and cooperating mutually, he voiced confidence countries can contribute to improving the quality of life of the citizens and economic cooperation.
He said that a new procedure for selecting a new contractor for the construction of the first direct railroad link between North Macedonia and Bulgaria is to be announced in the first quarter of 2021.
