PM Zoran Zaev met Wednesday with French Ambassador to North Macedonia Cyrille Baumgartner.
At the meeting, Zaev and Baumgartner discussed about visible progress that North Macedonia has achieved in recent years, in establishing and respecting European values, voicing expectation that the country will continue on that path in the future, Government press service said.
France supports the Euro-Atlantic integration of North Macedonia, guided by the policies of cooperation and understanding that our country represents, as President Macron stated yesterday at the Sofia Summit.
The meeting also tackled the concrete steps taken to boost bilateral cooperation between our country and France, through the activities of the French Development Agency in Skopje.
They also discussed about the increased interest of French companies to invest in North Macedonia in the areas of economy, health, environment, energy, agriculture.
Zaev thanked President Macron and the citizens of France for supporting our country’s Euro-Atlantic integration bid as well as support through EU funds, which are of great importance for the implementation of projects for modern, European infrastructure. Moreover, Zaev has invited the French President Macron to visit our country.
“We are strongly committed to establish European values in our country and to the development of the economy, aimed at enhancing well-being of the citizens. The support of sincere friends, such as Republic of France, is very important to us. We have shown that with policy dialogue we have a constructive role in the European and economic development of the region and we will continue working in this direction,” Zaev stressed.
Zaev announced to participate in Paris Peace Summit on Thursday, which, as he said, once again confirms that the North Macedonia supports Europe’s strategic commitments to friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding aimed at ensuring world peace, press release reads.
