NEWS OF THE DAY: “For” and “against” online work of Parliament

Following the three confirmed cases of MPs infected with Covid-19, the debate on the possibility for Parliament to hold sessions through online applications has intensified. The ruling majority proposes a change to the Rules of Procedure in order to allow MPs who are in isolation to work remotely, while VMRO-DPMNE thinks that from a constitutional-legal aspect, the Parliament cannot work and decide through online applications.

The issue of MPs working online became topical yesterday after VMRO-DPMNE’s parliamentary group confirmed that an MP from along the lines of this party was positive for Covid-19. She had been positive for the virus more than a week, and two weeks previously had not been going to work in Parliament.

In the previous days it was announced that MPs Laze Taneski from SDSM and Ismail Jahoski from DUI had also tested positive for Covid-19. Taneski was tested because he wanted to travel abroad, whereas Jahoski had Covid-19 symptoms and was hospitalized.
