NEWS OF THE DAY: “WE WALK FOR JUSTICE” MARCH

SDSM President Zoran Zaev at today’s press conference called on all citizens who are for justice, fairness and a strong legal state, to join tomorrow’s march for justice “We walk for justice” that is organized by SDSM.

“I call on all of you, join the fight for justice. May today’s victory be a motive, together for us to achieve much more. Together to step forward in building a legal state. Therefore, I call on all justice loving people, tomorrow – Monday, at 6.00 pm, in front of the Parliament of the Republic of North Macedonia, to walk on behalf of justice. I invite you to join the “We walk for justice” march. Together to march from the place where this so important law was adopted, to the place where we expect to see the final legal outcome – the court. See you tomorrow at 6.00 pm in front of Parliament. We walk for justice”, said Zaev.

“Together we will continue forward with decisive steps for real and non-selective justice. For a European perspective, but also responsibility for all those who have violated the law! For progress, development and NATO and EU membership”, concluded Zaev.

FLASH: Same pre-election propaganda, but with a different content: Africans instead of jihadists

The propaganda has been turned on to the highest, some will be spreading paranoia and will be frightening citizens that blacks will be wondering in their homes, others through their portals will be spreading Albano-phobia, that the Albanians will be on ID cards, while the Macedonians will not. At the previous elections, they frightened citizens with some kind of “Tirana platform and cantonization, remember?!

NOT LESS IMPORTANT

Bojan Jovanovski – Boki 13 had been meeting with former Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva and has been going to her home, this was shown on the footage of the PI measures that today were shown in the courtroom at the hearing for the “Racket” case, in which defendants are Boki 13 and Janeva. According to the defence, there is nothing disputable in the recordings.

The ministerial position in the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy in the Technical Government will remain vacant until the elections, after VMRO-DPMNE did not submit a new proposal for this positon following the dismissal of technical minister Rashela Mizrahi until yesterday when the Parliament was dissolved

The country is lacking 536 firefighters in order to reach the legally prescribed minimum, while the average age of the fire trucks is 28 years, shows the research that the Center for Civil Communications carried out.

The leaders decided to return the mandate to you, it is an obligation of the institutions to provide conditions for conducting fair, free and democratic elections where you will use your democratic civil right and obligation, said the President of Parliament, Talat Xhaferi, at a press conference today addressing the citizens at yesterday’s dissolution of Parliament and announcement of early parliamentary elections for April 12.

The Independent Academic Union in an open letter to Prime Minister Oliver Spasovski expressed dissatisfaction with the unresolved problem with the payment of the promised 10 percent of the January salary for employees in higher education and, as he indicates, “because of someone’s personal interests that have nothing to do with the efforts for promoting the position of the employees, the way in which the promised increase is to be performed has become problematic”.

The realization of capital investments in 2019 is within the average for the past 10 years or just above the average, whereas the public debt is stabilized, assessed today Minister of Finance Nina Angelovska.

TOPIC OF THE WEEK – HATE SPEECH

Pre-election periods in our country in the past decade, especially in recent years, have been increasingly more accompanied with hate speech. Hate speech is present in everyday life, but experiences its peaks right before elections. Because of this, the topic of this week on CIVIL’s media platform is hate speech, as one of the tools of black propaganda.

On this occasion, CIVIL is organizing a panel discussion on Thursday precisely on this topic. More details will be available soon.

CIVIL ACTIVITIES

CIVIL invites all of its members, supporters and participants of seminars on citizen journalism, observers of previous elections, as well as all interested citizens to apply for short-term election observers. (LINK TO APPLICATION)

The deadline for applying for short-term election observers within CIVIL is February 20, 12.00 noon

FREE ZONE

“The fact is that VMRO-DPMNE at these elections is more disintegrated and less unified than it has been in a long time – actually, the concluding parliamentary voting on the Law on Public Prosecutor’s Office and one on the defence showed this – with a leadership that bases all of its optimism on spreading virus-pessimism and promising post-election arrests”, writes Saso Ordanoski in today’s column “An alternative that promises repetition?”.

More about the “rebuilding of the regime or surviving on this Euro path”, in today’s corner by Zoran Ivanov.
