CIVIL Media’s daily brief highlights the resignation of Katica Janeva from the SPO, Prime Minister Zaev’s call for a leaders’ meeting, the new bombs from El Cheka about Ali Ahmeti and Musa Xhaferi…

NEWS OF THE DAY: KATICA JANEVA RESIGNS FROM THE SPO

Special Public Prosecutor Katica Janeva has resigned, saying that she will no longer allow to be a target of someone’s political games and for the entire Special Prosecutor’s Office to be held captive because of this. I am putting down my resignation, which will become active when the political parties agree on the new legal solution and select my successor”, announced Janeva. She publically thanked the entire team of the Special Prosecutor’s Office, with which, as she says, they made history. “We should be proud because we represent a

symbol of an uncompromising fight against the highest forms of organized crime and corruption”, said Janeva.

ZAEV CALLS MICKOSKI, AHMETI AND SELA TO A LEADERS’ MEETING

“I am calling for a leaders’ meeting, which I suggest is be held on Friday, July 19, at 2.00 pm at the Members of Parliament Club”, this is how Prime Minister Zoran Zaev started today’s press conference, calling on the leaders of DUI, the Alliance for the Albanians and VMRO-DPMNE.

“As priority topics, from our side, I propose the following topics: to unite in terms of a principle agreement for a new Electoral Code, to start on time without pressure from recent elections, and to set a goal until the next elections to provide legislature acceptable for all, with incorporated recommendations to the ODIHR. We will certainly also discuss the new Election Model”, stated Zaev, adding that he remains in the position that there should be regular, and not early elections.

Zaev also suggested the Law on the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Law on Census as topics for discussion.

KOCAN WITH A NEW REQUEST FOR POSTPONEMENT OF EXECUTION OF SENTENCE

Sead Kocan, sentenced to 4 years and 8 months in prison for the SPO case “Trust”, is requesting for the third time postponement of the sentence, this time, due to illness. Previously, the Criminal Council on July 12 already rejected one such appeal of Kocan and confirmed the decision of the judge of the Criminal Court. The final decision should be made after the entire documentation on the case is reviewed.

The first-instance decision was 6 years in prison, whereas the Court of Appeals in March this year reduced it to 4 years and 8 months. Kocan was found guilty for unlawfully receiving a tender from ELEM. He is to start serving his sentence on July 17.

BOJAN JOVANOVSKI ARRESTED

The Manager of 1TV, Bojan Jovanovski, known to the public as Boki 13, has been arrested at a border crossing. He and another well-known businessman have been detained in a police station for an information conversation, for the case that the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office is leading, confirmed the Prosecutor’s Office.

NEW BOMB FOR THE BROTHER OF ALI AHMETI AND FOR MUSA XHAFERI

El Cheka posted a new audio “bomb” in which supposedly the voice of Fekri Ahmeti, Ali Ahmeti’s brother, can be heard, and there is a bomb in which the voice of DUI official Musa Xhaferi can also be heard.

According to the released telephone conversation, they are talking about a tender that concerns TPP Oslomej, and the Mayor of the Municipality of Kicevo, Fatmir Dehari, is mentioned.
