Parliament
The Reforms of the UBK (Administration for Security and Counterintelligence) were presented before a parliamentary commission today. Minister of Interior, Oliver Spasovski, in an address at the session of the Commission, highlighted that one of the remarks of Priebe on the situation in this sector was that the situation is a result of not respecting the professional ethics, the basic principle of risk management and the lack of knowledge on the sensitivity of the intelligence tasks within the framework of the UBK. According to the action plan, the MOI should propose to the Government one of the three models until November 15, and after that, the selection will be subjected to analyses through an action plan of the legislation and all other by-laws.
Mandate
Yesterday, the Commission on Mandate-Immunity Matters approved the proposal of the court on ending the mandate of Nikola Gruevski in order for him to serve his two-year prison sentence, convicted for the case “Tank”. The decision of the Commission is explained with Article 59 from the Parliament’s Rules of Procedure, which indicates that the court should inform the president of the
parliament when it convicts an MP for a crime or other punishable act, with which the MP becomes unworthy of his position.
The decision will be reviewed at a plenary session of the Parliament.
From the Basic Court Skopje 1 they have confirmed that 4 complaints have been received from Gruevski’s lawyers, and that Gruevski is waited to personally file a complaint for having his sentence postponed. If Gruevski waits for the last deadline to submit a complaint and submits it by mail, it would be received on Friday. And according to the court, it is possible for the Criminal Court to decide on it immediately.
Trials
Today in the Criminal Court in Skopje, the trial for the events that took place on April 27 last year in the Parliament of Republic of Macedonia continued. All 32 accused were present in the courtroom, except the accused Sashko Markovski, for whom the procedure was separated.
