Unequivocal support for the referendum

Ahead of the referendum scheduled for September 30, this week the Chancellors of Germany and Austria, Angela Merkel and Sebastian Kurz are coming to Skopje, as well as NATO General Secretary Jens Stoltenberg.

Their visit was announced by Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, emphasizing that this visit of three world statesmen to Skopje is another positive signal, recognition and support for Macedonia.

Prime Minister Zoran Zaev commenting today the documents that “WikiLeaks” published that the name “Republika Severna Makedonija” had been accepted back in 2008, stated that this is a reason more for us to stand together and to provide a secure future of the state.

The Chamber of Commerce of Macedonia is giving the Government full and unequivocal support for the referendum, and after the processes in regards to membership in EU and NATO are completed, it expects for the political parties to reconcile and for even better conditions for the development of the economy to be created.

Macedonia companies need to grab the new chance and to wisely, efficiently and innovatively make use of the signed agreements with Greece and Bulgaria. Previous obstructions and obstacles for a maximum business cooperation with these two neighbors have been removed, said today Prime Minister Zoran Zaev.

Nikola Gruevski from a press conference in the Parliament of RM announced today that he would not appear tomorrow in the Court of Appeal, and that not even his lawyers would be attending the session for the case “Tank” because, as he said, the decision has already been made politically.

Gruevski accused that the government is leading a political hunt against him, and that the judges are professional, but are working, as he said, under pressure.

The State Election Commission at today’s eighth session, adopted the minutes of the seventh session, the Rulebook on the manner and procedure for resolving complaints, the Manual for education of elected bodies and the forms for conducting the referendum 2018.

The SEC also reviewed the requests for non-acceptance of executing duties in the electoral boards that will be conducting the voting abroad, and a random selection was also carried out at the session of members of the electoral boards who will be replacing them and will be carrying out the voting abroad.

Witnesses, who in some way have participated in the public procurement of the luxurious “Mercedes” worth 600 thousand euros, were questioned at today’s hearing in the Criminal Court in Skopje, in a separate procedure against the the former Minister of Interior, Gordana Jankulovska.

CIVIL – Center for Freedom, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior of RM, will hold a working meeting on the topic “Prevention of violent extremism”, which will be held in the meeting room, building 1, MOI, on September 5. Special attention will be given to radicalization and the potentials of violent extremism arising from hate speech and nationalism in public space. After the working meeting, part of the participants will give statements for the public at 12.30 pm.
