Justified and less justified sentences, verdicts and expectations

Reconstruction of the government, be it good or bad
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Minister without portfolio in charge of communications, accountability and transparency, Robert Popovski, today participated at the conference “The future of the media and journalism in the digital era”, organized by Media Development Center.

Popovski stated that VMRO-DPMNE has not participated in any of the series of debates, and that they have submitted about 70 amendments after the Law passed in the Government and was sent to Parliament. According to him, it is as if they are leaving the impression that they want to block the law and maintain this status quo situation, or bargain for which members to be appointed.

From today’s court hearings, the grandfather of Tamara Dimovska from Veles, Ljupco Stojanovski, has been sentenced to one year in prison. The Appellate Court changed the judgement of the Criminal Court, which sentenced Stojanovski to a probation jail sentence for possessing a weapon after confessing.

Last year on June 1, he fired at former Minister of Health, Nikola Todorov, after his granddaughter died waiting for an operation abroad.

Today at the Criminal Court, the accused in the SPO case “Lawn”, Dragan Pavlovic – Latas, Srgjan Pavlovic and Zvezdan Pavlovic stated that they do not feel guilty for the illegal construction of three buildings in Zelenikovo.

According to the charges, they built three holiday houses in the Municipality of Zelenikovo without having the right for such construction, that is, constructing without a building permit. Latas built a holiday house of 317 square meters, while his brothers holiday houses of 130 and 104 square meters.

With putting a final stamp on the Agreement with Greece and ratifying it as legitimate and desired for improving the status of the country for joining EU and NATO, it is becoming increasingly more obvious that it will depend on whether the outcome of the referendum will be for or against accepting the name Northern Macedonia.

Basically, the conditional date for opening negotiations is June 2019, certainly, depending on the positive outcome of the referendum. The same goes for the EU and NATO.

However, Macedonia’s entry does not depend only on the referendum, but rather on the reforms in the public administration, judiciary, intelligence services and the fight against corruption. Which, of

course, depends not only on the changes in the Law on anti-corruption, but also on the way in which the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption (SCPC) will be reformed.

Because the focus, in a democratic manner, is turned towards the citizens in whose hands lies the fate of Macedonia, its identity, language, culture and history, which the opposition considers to be the most important things we own as a nation, and the change of the Constitution of the state is an unacceptable scenario, we remain to see whether they will boycott the referendum or not.

А. Petrovska
