This afternoon, 44 citizens of Afghanistan arrived in Skopje. This is the second group of Afghans who have landed in North Macedonia, after last month the Taliban took control of the country.
The Afghans who arrived today are activists from the organization Тurquoise Мountаin, and among them are also members of their families, stated the Government of North Macedonia.
After their landing, security checks for protection were made on them, support from the Red Cross, medical support, a PCR test and possibility for vaccine.
These people will be temporarily accommodated in Skopje until transfer to their final destination is provided. The costs for this group as well will be entirely covered by international organizations.
Turquoise Мountаin is an organization founded in 2006 by Prince Charles with a humanitarian mission that in these past years has had successful activities in Afghanistan. As the Government informs, this organization has restored more than 150 historic buildings, treated about 165 thousand patients in the Kabul clinic, opened and supported over 50 businesses in Afghanistan, Myanmar and other activities.
