Innovative ideas push the world forward and I’m convinced that all of us, together, we will establish a more successful business climate with a dedicated transformation of the Macedonian startup eco-system. Let’s contribute together to helping the country become a startup hub in the Balkans, because we believe it’s an introduction to the fourth industrialization we’re aiming for, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said Friday opening the first National Startups Summit taking place in Skopje.
Zaev expressed strong support for the innovative ideas of the Macedonian startup community and its great role in economic development at local and national level.
Also, he praised all entrepreneurs who even amid the pandemic kept working to digitize processes and implement state-of-the-art tools for business development.
“We continue with more vigor to motivate startup companies to develop, to conquer new markets, to make networks internationally, to create a high added value and to grow into national brands. Your successful innovative stories will motivate all those considering whether to turn their idea into a business,” Zaev said.
In the past three years alone, he recalled, the Fund for Innovation and Technology Development supported 559 companies through co-funded projects and over EUR 76 million in investments.
“We have so much potential potential, smart young people who should be supported and be their own bosses and contribute to the development of the business community and the economy. Entrepreneurs, you can count on the support of your government,” PM Zaev urged.
He said he hoped the 1st National Startups Summit would produce quality conclusions.
The event also saw addressed by Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi and Director of the Fund for Innovations and Technology Development, Kosta Petrov.
