Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi takes part Monday and Tuesday in the European Parliament’s Second Western Balkans Speakers’ Summit in Brussels on the invitation of European Parliament President David Sassoli.
Speakers from the parliaments of Slovenia, Portugal, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia will attend the meeting. Meeting of the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET), in association with the EP Standing delegations for the Western Balkans, with the Speakers of the Western Balkans’ parliaments will also be held presided over by AFET chair David McAllister.
Talks will focus on the strengthening of the parliamentary cooperation in the enlargement process and key role of parliaments in the EU enlargement process in a post-COVID-era. The meeting will not be open to the public. Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi is scheduled to address the Summit, according to the Parliament’s press release.
On the sidelines of the Summit, Xhaferi is set to hold a bilateral meeting with the President of the National Assembly of Slovenia, Igor Zorcic, and will meet with MEPs Andreas Schieder, Ilhan Kyuchyuk and Marion Walsmann.
