The video “We Vote!” is an attractive, artistic video dedicated to, as the creators call it, voting awareness. This interesting video is a result of the cooperation between the organizations Lokomotiva – Center for New Initiative in Arts and Culture and CIVIL.
The first reaction of CIVIL’s team and CIVIL MEDIA’S Editorial Office after receiving the final version of this dynamic artistic video was:
“This is a necessary video lecture for every voter in the world!”.
The cooperation of these two organizations, one in the field of art and the other in the field of human rights and freedoms, is part of the Election Health Check project organized by the NGO Unhack Democracy from Hungary, and supported by the Culture of Solidarity Fund of the European Cultural Foundation.
SPECIFIC MESSAGES FROM ARTISTS BY USING RESEARCH FROM PRO-DEMOCRATIC ORGANIZATIONS
The main goal of the Election Health Check project is to produce a series of short videos inspired by research of Unhack Democracy and other organizations who work on election monitoring and identify essential problems regarding election integrity, election irregularities and fraud in Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans. This project includes specific messages with which artists from the local context convey conclusions from the research of pro-democratic organizations from the countries in which they work.
In the process of creating the video We Vote!, the team of Lokomotiva Skopje invited artist Filip Jovanovski, visual artist and cultural worker who works on socially engaged and interdisciplinary art projects, to jointly create the artistic solution for the video. For the basis of this video, Lokomotiva used CIVIL’s research that is focused on protection of the election integrity and process.
The video “We vote!” is also available in a short version.
ARTISTS, ACTIVISTS AND EXPERTS TOGETHER FOR VOTING AWARENESS
The essence of the project is conveying an artistic video message that uses facts, specific research and reports made by non-governmental organizations that work as observers of democratic processes in the country.
The multinational Election Health Check project is coordinated by the pro-democratic group Unhack Democracy. The project has the goal to produce a series of videos created by creative teams inspired by the investigations of Unhack Democracy and election observers – CIVIL (North Macedonia) and Crta (Serbia) on election irregularities and fraud in Hungary, North Macedonia and Serbia.
The videos are created by well-known organizations, local artists and activists from these countries that advocate for solidarity and systematic change, for protection of election integrity with the purpose of exposing abuse of election processes and voters. The videos posted on YouTube, social media and broadcast on several television stations in each of the countries where the project is being implemented, will have an informative goal and should inform viewers about their civil rights and encourage them to actively participate in the democratic process.
The video “We Vote!” is created by Lokomotiva – Center for New Initiative in Arts and Culture in cooperation with CIVIL, as part of the Election Health Check project of Unhack Democracy and is created and supported by the European Cultural Foundation and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom.
