Thirty percent of the country’s energy production comes from renewable resources, which is close to the EU average, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said Friday.
“All hydropower plants, windmills in the country make 30 percent of the energy production – energy that comes from renewable resources. We’re not lagging much behind the European average,” the PM said.
According to him, there’s good reason to believe that more than 50 percent will come from renewable energy sources in the overall energy production in North Macedonia.
“Focus on fully substituting coal as the main source of energy production with renewable energy sources is among the country’s priorities. In fact, these are the largest investment potentials now happening,” Zaev said.
“Investment in energy, especially in renewable energy sources, is swiftest pace investment and swiftest possible means for GDP growth. This includes photovoltaics. We need to use the sun’s potential to generate energy,” Zaev said.
