Declaring state of crisis does not mean that the citizens will see more police officers or Army members on the streets to implement the measures, but it is an opportunity to use all resources in the country in coordination with all competent bodies and institutions, Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski said Friday.
Spasovski said that the situation is calm and stable from a security aspect, regardless of the fact that we have declared a state of crisis, primarily to tackle the COVID-19 crisis.
“The decision to declare a state of crisis on entire territory of the country was made in order to be able to more easily coordinate, prevent and cope with the COVID-19 situation. The state of crisis does not mean that the citizens will see more police officers or Army members on the streets to implement the measures,” Spasovski told reporters at a press briefing.
He said that the the goal is for all state institutions to put capacities at disposal to participate in the battle against COVID-19, but also in accordance with the Law on Crisis Management to be able to use all resources, including private ones.
“We are already operating together with the army, and police officers and army members have already been deployed to secure hospital facilities. The action plan is implemented on the basis of the assessments of both the assessment team and the Main HQ of the Crisis Management Center and the resources in this period must be used very rationally and smartly,” Spasovski said.
Spasovski urged people to act responsibly and stand together to combat the spread of the COVID-19, and to continue to respect health protection measures.
