Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Sijarto, who is visiting the country today, said that the extradition of former Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski is a legal issue for which the judicial system is in charge.
– This is not a political, but a legal issue. This is a matter for the judicial system and in Hungary politicians can not ask questions about it, Sijarto said at a joint press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani, answering a journalist question why Hungary does not extradite Gruevski.
Former Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski fled to Budapest in 2018 where he received political asylum. He has been charged in several trials and sentenced in the “Tank” case to two years in prison for purchasing a luxury Mercedes.
