Once COVID-19 vaccines arrive in the country, the first ones to get the shot will be doctors, medical personnel and all others that are on the frontline against the pandemic. People with chronic illnesses, senior citizens, kindergarten staff will follow, the government spokesmen said Wednesday.
The politicians will receive the vaccine after those on the priority list, said Dushko Arsovski and Muamet Hoxha.
“PM Zoran Zaev has said he will set a personal example as a show of support to the efforts made to subdue COVID-19,” the spokesmen said.
They announced that talks for direct procurement of COVID-19 shots are under way.
“We are not relaying only on donations. All mechanisms are being used and all procedures have been launched on time. 833,000 doses for nearly 400,000 citizens have been already provided, they should arrive in the first months of 2021,” said Arsovski.
It is yet unknown, he added, when Bulgaria will donate vaccines and how much, but the plan is portion of the batches arriving in Bulgaria to be set aside for our country. Part of the first shipment of vaccines to Greece will be intended for North Macedonia, Arsovski told the news conference.
