Freedom and democracy have no price. On this day eight years ago, Macedonian democracy was attacked, MPs and Parliament were under attack of the regime, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said Thursday recalling the events in Parliament on Dec. 24, 2012, known as Black Monday.
“December 24, Black Monday, is a testament of the real face of VMRO-DPMNE’s violent regime, which culminated years later, on April 27, with the violent storming in Parliament, and attempts to assassinate MPs, journalists and members of the Parliament staff,” Zaev wrote on Facebook.
Things have changed a lot eight years later, he added. “We live freely. Journalists report freely and unbiasedly, MPs work freely without fear of any attacks. Order, justice and discipline are the new values,” Zaev said.
The PM called for events, such as December 24, 2012, to remain part of the collective memory as a reminder of what was wrong.
