Prime Minister Zoran Zaev held a meeting on Thursday with NATO’s former Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Wesley Clark.
Deputy PM Ljupcho Nikolovski, who is in charge of fight against corruption and crime, sustainable development and human resources, also attended the meeting, the government said in a press release.
Interlocutors discussed on Thursday the new reality in the country and the region following the NATO accession of several Western Balkan countries, including North Macedonia.
“Prime Minister Zaev underlined that NATO membership, North Macedonia’s strategic goal, has defined the country’s geostrategic position in the region and beyond, adding that the benefits of defence and security have encouraged foreign investments in the country and contributed to economic development,” the press release read.
Clark stressed during the meeting that as a businessman he’s fully committed to supporting the development of all countries in the region and Southeast Europe, especially their economic connectivity with US and European investors and their fight against corruption and grey economy.
Moreover, he said that in the upcoming period he’ll focus on encouraging US companies to invest in North Macedonia, the press release read.
