At the CIVIL conference “Perspectives 2021”, Aleksandar Krzhalovski, MCIC spoke about the perspectives of the civil society sector in 2021, their development and focus, which will again be in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“As it seems, the last month of the year, especially with the advent of vaccines, we expect the situation to stabilize by the middle of the year and to slowly return from the new normal to the old normal. What happened this year, can be expected in the first half of next year that still many civil society organizations have adapted to direct work for prevention and assistance to vulnerable people and their target groups in dealing with the pandemic, especially in our country, because there was a third wave, the worst ever… As for the long-term perspectives of civil society organizations, unfortunately, I do not expect good things, due to the crisis, all reforms have been postponed. I mainly mean the transition in financial resources from foreign donors to domestic sources of funding… Challenge for the civil sector in the year or the years to come to contribute more to the transition, to European values, without European support,” said Krzhalovski.
