Issues related to North Macedonia’s EU accession and the current dialogue with Bulgaria were in the focus of Monday’s talks between President Stevo Pendarovski and Sir Stuart Peach, United Kingdom Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, MIA informs.
Pendarovski, as his Cabinet announced, informed Peach about the progress of the dialogue between the two countries and in that context, the President thanked him for the interest and support of the United Kingdom for the Macedonian-Bulgarian dialogue. The President stressed that overcoming the blockade on the start of accession talks with the EU will bring additional predictability and stability to the Western Balkans.
The President said that this visit is a confirmation of the United Kingdom’s commitment to maintaining stability and prosperity in the region.
The interlocutors exchanged views and information on the current situation in the country and the region, as well as opportunities for cooperation with the United Kingdom on topics of common interest such as stability and security, as well as strengthening institutions in the fight against organized crime and corruption.
Pendarovski and Peach, among other things, discussed the excellent bilateral cooperation between North Macedonia and the United Kingdom and the opportunities to strengthen cooperation between the two countries and to provide further support in many areas and forms.
