Regarding the escape of ex-secret police chief Sasho Mijalkov, President Stevo Pendarovski called on authorities on Monday to take all necessary measures to enforce the court’s decision and place him under house arrest.
“It’s unacceptable for this to be happening in a country waiting to start EU accession talks and working hard to implement justice system reforms and build trust in rule of law. It discredits efforts and hopes for managing crime and high corruption,” Pendarovski stressed.
The President, his office said in a press release, expects relevant institutions to conduct an investigation as soon as possible and take all necessary measures.
“Citizens are demanding responsibility, both criminal and moral. The fight for rule of law entails that all those who have broken the law must be punished,” President Pendarovski noted.
