The very beginnings of “One Can” rely on the opportunity for me to be part of CIVIL, highlighted Doroti Pachkova from “One Can” at the beginning of her presentation at the panel “Gender Equality: Deep Hibernation”.
“The position of women is unenviable, after 6 years of “One Can”, we can say that I see the influence precisely in the changing of public awareness and in the perceptions regarding single parents. If in our beginnings we were addresses as the cancer of society and were life-threatening, referring us quite often, even in the public space, to stay at home, to be silent and to bow our heads, now we have the support of all media, which in some way, even heroize the work of a single mother”, points out Pachkova in terms of the position of single mothers. “In regards to recommendations, what “One Can” is constantly saying and lobbying are quotas. Only when there are quotas for women from vulnerable and marginalized categories, on the short-term, with the purpose to demarginalize them. That is called positive discrimination, and is a tool that many European countries use exactly for extracting different categories of citizens from the positions in which they are”, added among else Pachkova.
