NEWS OF THE DAY: Zaev with hope that consensus will be reached on one constituency

Prime Minister Zoran Zaev today expressed hope that consensus will be reached on changing the election model to a model with one constituency, repeating that by this, the big parties lose, and that SDSM will also lose, but that the possibility would be removed for any authoritarian attitude in the future.

Zaev replying to a journalist question after the promotion of “Grammar of the modern Romani language”, emphasized that it is good for such important issues in the country, like changing the election model, to be decided with a consensus.

Raskovski: The helicopter emergency services will cost the budget zero denars

The project for the System on helicopter emergency services (CAP) and Helicopter Search and Rescue Services (HEMS) will cost the budget of the state zero denars, claims the Secretary General of the Government, Dragi Raskovski.

– The announcements of the opposition that it will cost the state 72 million euros is silly. If you take a look at the budget circulation for this material, you will see that the costs there for the Budget are zero, said Raskovski at today’s briefing with journalists.

Strike of education workers put on hold

The trike of education workers has been put on hold until the final offer by the Ministry of Education and Science, stated today the President of the Union of Education, Science and Culture (SONK), Jakim Nedelkov.

Prime Minister Zoran Zaev today, replying to the question whether the salaries of education workers will be increased, said that Minister of Education and Science Arber Ademi will announce this decision tomorrow.

FLASH NEWS

Upon the proposal of Prime Minister and SDSM Leader, Zoran Zaev, SDSM General Secretary Ljupco Nikolovski has been elected Head of the Electoral Headquarters of the ruling party for the early elections. |Such a decision was made by the Central Board of the Social Democratic Union that was held last night, while former minister of agriculture, who left the Government in order to devote himself to the party, had been the proposal of the president of the party, Zoran Zaev.

Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs Bujar Osmani, met with UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of North Macedonia Rossana Dudziak, where they talked about the new Framework for supporting the country development and UN’s support to the process of democratization.

The first meeting of the informal group “Friends of North Macedonia” was held yesterday afternoon in the European Parliament at the initiative of Slovenian MEP Irena Joveva, from the Liberals.

Prime Minister Zoran Zaev today and tomorrow will attend the meeting of the World Economic Forum in Geneva on the topic “Strategic Dialogue of the Western Balkans”.

No one can escape from punishment and from one’s own responsibility, including even Nikola Gruevski, said Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, replying to a journalist question following today’s promotion of Grammar of the Modern Romani Language.

There are several reasons why the revision of textbooks needs to be completed, which has started, because not only do they contain entire offensive sentences, views or the like, but there are also many inaccuracies that are defined with absolute truth and they should be removed, said Prime Minister Zoran Zaev.

Derkoski: We need help from additional administrative capacity

“Changing the electoral model certainly does bring certain disruptions in the organization and implementation of the elections, and that is why there are certain standards prescribed by OSCE and ODIHR in terms that such changes to an electoral model should not be made at least one year before elections, and that should be taken into account. Even though we could adapt to the newly-emerged situation, there will, however, be certain shifts in terms of the organization and implementation of the elections. The decision, nonetheless, rests on the political factors that practically carry the burden of organizing and implementing elections and the electoral model”, adds Derkoski.

OPINION

Uncle (Raskovski) send flyers!

“I still don’t quite understand the total math in this, for us, ‘free’ flying business plan. But it is clear that the manner in which the Government, with (unnecessary?) hiding of complete information, is communicating the project to the public leads to a new, sweet, pre-election political-corruption scandal that will only grow in the public, just as dough rises when it is baked”, writes Saso Ordanoski.

It’s not the model, rather the capacity

“Just as they are afraid of elections, they are even more afraid of one constituency. And one constituency is space where every vote of every citizen is effective and where the will of every voter is effective. Well, yes, the big ones will lose some of their decade-long power. And as for the small ones, they are small because it wasn’t them who decided so, but the citizens. They don’t deserve protection. Among them also soloists, quite a bit unrealistically ambitious and present in politics of no use. Family parties that are going back and forth through pluralism for two, three decades. But whatever, it’s democracy, right”, writes Zoran Ivanov.
