Children over 12 in North Macedonia can be vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Friday (July 16) after their parents/foster parents signed them up for vaccination with Pfizer at vakcinacija.mk from Monday until Thursday.
Appointments will be scheduled depending on the interest shown by people registering because one Pfizer vial contains six doses, explained Health Minister Venko Filipche on Monday.
“Once the Pfizer vaccine is opened, six people have to be vaccinated because the vial contains six doses. If one or two children apply, there’s a risk vials to be thrown away and we don’t want that to happen. Registration is opened until Thursday and Friday marks the start of vaccination of children,” Filipche told reporters after attending the opening of a new vaccination site at a polyclinic in Skopje’s Shuto Orizari.
The Minister announced that people can have the AstraZeneca booster shot at six weeks after being shortened from 12 weeks.
“This was agreed at a meeting with members of the immunization committee after taking into consideration many papers and experiences from other countries regarding side-effects. The AstraZeneca will still be applied to people over 60,” Filipche stated.
