Health Minister Venko Filipche said Thursday that the country would not order additional doses from Serbia’s “Torlak” institute that is set to produce the Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine or for any other manufacturer, since 2,6 million doses have already been secured.
“We do not need more vaccines for the time being because we have already ordered 2,6 million – 800,000 each from COVAX and Pfizer, 200,000 each from Russia and China, 100,000 from the EU solidarity system and additional 500,000 Sinovac vaccines that are set to arrive in May,” Minister Filipche told reporters.
He added that during a recent meeting, the “Torlak” director said Serbia and its citizens would be given priority in distribution, but also neighboring countries. The Belgrade-based institute launched the production of the “Sputnik V” jab on Wednesday.
