VMRO-DPMNE is right, millions of euros have been spent, not just the ones in the SPO, but the entire country has spent enormous amounts of money, energy, time, nerves, for us to get closer, even if just a little, to the ideas of the rule of law, justice, freedom…When we say the state, we mean, above all, the institutions of the system as a whole. But the state is not an imaginary, incomprehensible and invisible organism, rather it is an organized political community of citizens, a territory where there is a rule of law. That costs money, and the money is given by the people who are part of that state. And yes, it is true, that costs money, the rule of law is expensive. The more crime there is, the more money the state will have to set aside for the rule of law. Because, people demand justice.
Should we repeat again? The damages caused by the Family’s regime are felt to this day. The elections did not bring such a composition in the Parliament so as to ensure the minimizing of the power of the structures which executed the pogrom against democracy and freedom. That is, the forces were somewhat equal. We don’t need to specifically remind ourselves of April 27, which was political violence with obvious terroristic elements for an attack on the system, an attempt for an overturn that was supposed to disturb that balance in favor of the criminal clique. There is nothing unclear, nothing made up in this opinion. The fact that after such an event, we live in an (almost) normal country today is a miracle. In conditions as these, other countries would have fallen into a long-lasting and fierce internal and probably extremely violent conflict a long time ago.
Whether purposefully or not, the fact that the number of voters in one election process, and the number in the parliamentarian composition do not mean legitimacy, is constantly forgotten. Legitimacy is built on the basis of how big the impact to the general wellbeing of the country and its citizens is, and then, of course, to all those whose interests are advocated by some party. That is why there is one Constitution in the country, that is why the parties have a responsibility, in drafting their bylaws and programs to take into consideration the constitutionality, and not the interests of a party sultan and his servants.
That is why the legitimacy of VMRO-DPMNE cannot be based solely on the numbers with which it disposes. Money and the cartel-like organized structure that is at their disposal (source: all the bombs we heard) can give them much power. But the question of whether that gives them legitimacy can easily be answered even by an uneducated man.
They didn’t distance themselves from the dark past of implementing an authoritarian regime. Not only did they not return the money, not only did they not apologize for all the structural violence, for all the obstructions and manipulations, for the media war against their citizens, for the crazed force of the general theft, for the election theft, for December 24, 2012, for April 27, 2017, for the beating of the students and the shutting down of media and journalists, for the murders… Not only did they not distance themselves, but they are defending their actions fiercely and with fake news, misinformation, and black propaganda. Not only did they not show even an illusory will to change something (change themselves), but they have also kept the architect of this decade-long madness as their honored president!
And then one will say millions have been spent for the SPO! Yes, millions have been spent for the SPO, but compared to all the crime and all the money they have invested to nest themselves and to remain powerful and after the failure of forming a government, that’s nothing. They can take out three times as many millions in any given moment to prevent any process of restoring democracy and the country’s European path.
Indeed, the SPO perhaps didn’t manage to reveal and investigate all the crimes emerging from the wiretapped conversations, but the reason for this lies in the consequences of the organized criminal structure that maintained the regime, and which is still alive and powerful. And, ultimately, let it be just a little bit, but what the SPO has done so far is quite enough for the court processes to be carried out to the end. If in only one third of the SPO cases the guilt of the accused is proven, it will be more than enough for half of Gruevski’s government, along with himself, to leave for a long-term stay in prison.
Maybe it has to be that way. None of us, probably, are aware of the monstrous proportions of the militant and criminal structures that are against the Macedonian European future. We don’t know who actually sits at the negotiating table. Maybe it’s better that way – to go softly, with compromises, amnesties, with good intentions and positive energy and messages, come what may. Maybe that is better than to fight no matter the cost. Even if the country is completely emptied, and the graves are overgrown with weeds.
P.S. Ata, thank you for the inspiration for this BURST, I’m buying you a beer with Schweppes the first chance I get!
