Attracting investments, structuring financial instruments, support to startups and companies from the two countries, cooperation in the area of innovation, joint projects within European funds and programmes, as well as boosting trade, were among the topics in the focus of the first meeting of the Macedonian – Bulgarian working group on economy, trade and innovation, taking place in Skopje on Tuesday.
The working group is led by North Macedonia’s Finance Minister Fatmir Besimi and Bulgaria’s Minister of Innovation and Growth Daniel Lorer. “This second meeting of government delegations of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Bulgaria, organized in a short period of time, shows the readiness to deepen and boost the economic cooperation between the two countries,” Minister Besimi said as the meeting began.
The two ministers are expected to hold a press briefing after the meeting. A new approach in the relations between the two countries, as announced by Prime Ministers Dimitar Kovachevski and Kiril Petkov, takes off with Tuesday’s meeting of the working group on economy, trade and innovation.
The two governments set up four working groups, including a working group on economy, trade and innovation, a working group on infrastructure, transport and connection, a working group focusing on European integration and green policies, and a working group on culture, education and science.
