Minister of Transport and Communications Blagoj Bochvarski, who paid a visit to the Air Navigation Service Provider of North Macedonia (M-NAV) on Thursday, said an investment of over EUR 11 million was made in modernization of the navigation system in M-NAV towards enabling more efficient operation of air traffic control and air services in the country. Minister Bochvarski, accompanied by Deputy Minister Bekim Rexhepi and the managerial team of M-NAV, made a tour of the Air Traffic Control and the Navigation Center of the country’s air navigation service provider.
“For the first time in 25 years, preparations start to build a new facility for M-NAV. The investment of EUR 11 million, in addition to the construction of a new building, will include procurement of new radars, new communication equipment, a new ATM system, thus increasing capacity and providing for more efficient and safer air traffic,” said Bochvarski.
He pointed out he was satisfied that the investment was enabled despite the COVID-19 crisis, thus ensuring the modernization of such a key institution as M-NAV. The head of the air navigation service provider, Fahrudin Hamidi, thanked the Government for the investment, highlighting it as a crucial one since no one had invested in M-NAV for more than 25 years, the Ministry of Transport and Communications said in a press release.
“We’re honored that despite the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2021 together with the entire team of the Macedonian Navigation we improved the financial indicators. The investment we received for the construction of a new building with a total area of 1,200 sq.meter. and for the procurement of new equipment, will contribute to increasing our capacity and modernizing the institution. We continue as before, because flight safety is our top priority,” Hamidi said.
