Lajcak: The EU has to fulfil promise to North Macedonia
Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia and current OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Miroslav Lajcak, stated that the EU has to fulfil promise and start a new chapter in the relations with North Macedonia this year.
Lajcak said that North Macedonia arrived farther than could be anticipated several years ago and now is the time to reward the country’s efforts.
“Discussions on the date for negotiations continue, and several months will not make much of a difference for the citizens of North Macedonia. This year the country has to bring the deserved success for opening a new chapter with the Union. There will be serious consequences if the EU does not fulfil the promises”, added Lajcak.
In Skopje, Lajcak is in the role of OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, but also Chief of the Slovakian diplomacy, and he will meet with senior state officials, the leader of the opposition party VMRO-DPMNE and civil organizations.
Milososki manipulates public with old photos and disinformation
The former Minister of Foreign Affairs and VMRO-DPMNE MP, otherwise a suspect in the SPO case “Power” for the crimes Fraud and Abuse of official position and authority, is once again unsuccessfully and evidently trying to manipulate the public by publishing a photo of a text published back in April this year, which is no longer valid given the development of events. He is trying to link the old text with the General Affairs Council of the European Union that was held yesterday in Luxemburg.
Namely, not only is Milososki using old news, but he is also spreading disinformation about which countries are against the start of the negotiations with North Macedonia for EU membership.
It is important for the public to know that such a decision has not been made at all, nor have the member countries of this Council voted for or against the start of negotiations of North Macedonia with the EU. What was made as a concrete decision for North Macedonia is that the final decision will be made in September.
The Government against false news: Everyone is FOR a positive decision in October and start of negotiations by the end of the year
CIVIL Media addressed the Government with questions related to the latest development of events regarding the Macedonian Euro-Integration processes, especially after the wave of false news spread by some politicians of the opposition and the media close to them.
The Government is categorical: “Not a single country expressed doubt that the RNM has fulfilled all its tasks. The Netherlands expressed expectation for the Law on the Public Prosecutor’s Office to be adopted, but without negative opinion and with consent for the start of the negotiations this year”.
The US also expect a positive decision from the EU for negotiations with North Macedonia
The US strongly believe that North Macedonia should receive a date for start of the negotiations as soon as possible, stated today the Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in the country, Micaela Schweitzer Bluhm.
“The US Government strongly believes that North Macedonia deserves a date for the start of the negotiations as soon as possible. We have taken the statement from last night’s meeting into consideration and we are encouraged that the EU will make a decision for North Macedonia to open the accession negotiations this year”, said Schweitzer Bluhm in a statement for the MRTV in relation to the country’s accession negotiations, which is posted on the Facebook profile of the US Embassy.
