The number of coronavirus infections is on the rise and despite the statistics, state institutions do not abide by the government decision on how workplaces processes should be organized to provide adequate working conditions aimed at protecting the health of the staff, says the Association for the Protection of Workers’ Rights.
The organization says it came to this conclusion based on the growing number of reports filed by employees in state institutions about inadequate working conditions, larger groups of people in a small working space and lack of protective equipment.
“Such conditions are not in line with the recommendations for public health protection and for curbing the spread of the new virus. According to reports, the number of positive cases in state institutions is rising on daily basis. It comes as a result of total failure to act in line with the health protocols by office holders,” states the Association.
It urges all elected office holders to take urgent measures to protect the health of employees in state institutions, warning that failure to act in accordance with the government decision puts at risk public health and is violation of health regulations and protocols, for which they could be held accountable.
The organization also calls on employees individually or through their trade unions to use the tools at disposal in order to make sure their health and workers’ rights are protected.
