Minister of Health Venko Filipche said on Friday that the epidemiological situation in North Macedonia is improving, the number of new coronavirus cases is dropping and hospitals are under less pressure.
“We’ve registered a downward trend in new cases, in addition to less appointments at COVID units across the country. The number of hospital admissions is also down and there are a lot more beds available,” Filipche noted.
He added that some of the hospital wards used for treatment of coronavirus patients will starting Friday revert to their original function.
“I believe this trend will prevail, so we can start next week to discuss new measures,” the Health Minister underlined during a press conference at the vaccination site within the Boris Trajkovski sports hall.
Hospitals, he added, are also under less pressure, as evidenced by the fact that the number of hospitalized patients is down by a hundred compared to last week.
Moreover, the number of new COVID-19 cases has been dropping in the past few days by 50-100.
However, Filipche stressed, the number of hospitalizations is not related to the number of new cases, because there are still patients who may require treatment if their health deteriorates.
