Health Minister Venko Filipche received his first Covid-19 vaccine dose from the Chinese manufacturer Sinopharm at the Skopje mass vaccination site in the Boris Trajkovski Sports Arena. All vaccines are safe and side effects are rare, he said, encouraging citizens to apply for an appointment via vakcinacija.mk.
“The pandemic has taught us many things [including] the need to be united in following public health protection protocols,” Filipche said. “Now we need to be united again and prioritize vaccination as one of the key elements that can change the overall picture of the pandemic in our country.”
The health minister said the mass vaccination program was running smoothly and around 100,000 of the country’s citizens had gotten at least one dose so far.
“I urge everyone to register at the vakcinacija.mk website,” Filipche said, explaining that the system gives priority by age group. Citizens who apply will get either a text message or an email with the time and place of their appointment, he added.
Reiterating that the vaccination of frontline workers started a few weeks ago, the health minister said that Government ministers, together with Members of Parliament, are also considered essential to the functioning of the state and would be vaccinated within the next two weeks.
