Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani, alongside numerous high representatives of countries from the region and the world, has delivered an address on the anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, the Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
“We are honoring thousands of innocent victims, all those innocent men and children who were murdered in Srebrenica 26 years ago, and an even greater number of civilians who, in an attempt to save their lives, were forced to flee their homes. The events of July 1995, when more than eight thousand civilians were murdered must not be forgotten, and the facts related to it should not be relativized, a guarantee that the same will not be repeated. The lessons learned from this event, as well as the commitments to building lasting peace and prosperity bring hope to the future generations and the region as a whole”, Osmani emphasized.
“The European perspective for all countries in the region is the greatest transformative energy that drives our countries forward towards progress and reforms, whereupon we remain fully committed to building humane and democratic societies in which the rule of law and the human rights and freedoms will be respected, we will advocate promotion of equality and respect for diversity, the weak and the powerless. By respecting the victims and defending the truth, we can build a future”, Osmani concluded.
