Health Minister Venko Filipche at a government session on Tuesday informed the ministers that doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been provided for the entire year after intensive negotiations, the government said in a press release.
Filipche also said that the first batch of over 5,800 shots from Pfizer are expected to arrive and that negotiations are under way with other companies, stated the press release.
He told the ministers that the pressure on hospitals has been subdued and that Covid units are half-empty.
“It was concluded that the measures in place, adopted by the government to curb the spread of the new coronavirus, have been producing results,” said the press release.
At yesterday’s session, the government approved and tasked the Health Ministry with procuring vaccines for inoculation and vaccines according to epidemiological indices to meet the needs of the population over a three-year period, from January 2021 until December 2023.
