Everyone who has signed up for vaccination will receive COVID-19 vaccine in the coming two weeks starting next Monday and until July 15, Health Minister Venko Filipche said Friday, stressing that there will be enough doses to vaccinate 300,000 people.
Speaking to reporters, he confirmed that a batch of Pfizer vaccines will arrive later in the day.
According to Filipche, older people as well as teachers and educational institution staff will have a vaccination priority. “After all people who have registered are vaccinated, vaccination sites will remain open for further vaccination,” he said.
Pfizer vaccines will be distributed to the eight mass vaccination centers that are equipped with refrigerators for storage whereas the Sinovac vaccines will be distributed to all vaccination sites.
“As vaccines for 300,000 people arrive, the campaign will intensify. We’re also preparing the field vaccination system before it is launched on July 15,” the Minister said adding he hopes vaccination awareness will keep raising.
Vaccination will not be mandatory, he said, however as many people as possible should get vaccinated.
Filipche reiterated that AstraZeneca vaccines will be only administered to people over 60.
