“Our party advocates for EU and NATO membership. We are aware that the process of European integrations is going well, and I am convinced that this process will bring good results for all the citizens of Macedonia. That is why we have to respect the criteria of Maastricht and Copenhagen, which means that we must be careful in terms of the political and economic criteria relating to EU membership”, said Bardilj Dauti, Minister without portfolio from DPA, at the Conference “Macedonian Perspectives: How to get to Europe”, organized by CIVIL and MCIC.
“The process of reforms that this Government has undertaken for improving the indicators, such as the rule of law, effective governance, fight against corruption, as well as improving the services of public bodies, quality of life, will have a significant and positive effect, and the domestic institutions will be strengthened, which on the other hand, will have a positive effect in attracting foreign investments.
I think that resolving the name dispute with Greece will contribute to bringing foreign direct investors who will want to invest their capital in the country, which will be a positive change in the lives of the citizens in Macedonia”, stated Dauti.
“You know that we are having territorial threats from the east, from Russia, we are having cultural changes coming from the southeast of Turkey and other countries, we are also having other threats, such as the migrations coming from the Arab countries, and if Macedonia does not integrate as soon as possible, then the internal political organization of Europe will be at risk. In order for us to have stronger and more secure political boundaries in Europe, it is crucial for this country to integrate, because in this way Europe will be safer and all potential costs that could arise through the cultural expansion coming from the east could be avoided”, said Dauti in the context of the importance for Macedonia to be part of the EU, as a country that can contribute towards the stability of Europe, having in consideration that it is a link between the East and the West.
The Conference is part of the project “Free media for a free society”, which CIVIL is implementing with the support of the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany.
