NEWS OF THE DAY: Parliament adopts Law on census of population with necessary majority

With 62 votes “in favour”, without any “against” and “abstention”, today the Parliament adopted the Law on census of the population and households that is to be conducted in April this year. Today there was only voting on the law, while the debate ended on January 15, when there was no quorum for the voting. VMRO-DPMNE MPs were not present in the voting hall. The biggest opposition party previously announced that they will collect signatures from citizens to annul this law.

“The Law on census of population has been adopted with the necessary majority! After almost 20 years, we will count ourselves. We must never allow for a statistical operation to be politicized. Unfortunately, VMRO-DPMNE stood on the opposite side, let the citizens judge their actions”, posted Kostadin Kostadinov from SDSM on Facebook.

STATEMENT OF THE DAY: Maricic: The result of the census will be a basic tool for creating future development policies

Minister of Justice, Bojan Maricic, today on his Facebook profile welcomed the adoption of the Law on Census by Parliament.

The result of the census, according to the Minister, will be a basic tool for creating future development policies, while the business community will have direct benefit from it.

“I would like to welcome the decision of Parliament, which just a while ago passed the Law on Census. I appeal to the citizens to be at ease and to trust the institutions. The State Statistical Office and the institutions are more than prepared for conducting the census, while the trial one with this new methodology has already been welcomed by the European Commission. After almost two decades the state will finally conduct such a complex statistical operation, and the result from it will be a basic tool for creating future development policies. The business community will also have direct benefit from the census”, highlighted Maricic on Facebook.

FLASH NEWS:

Restaurants and hospitality facilities starting from today will work until 9.00 pm, thus the decision that was in force in the past month for them to close at 6.00 pm is no longer in effect, upon the recommendation of the Commission for Infectious Diseases, for the purpose of preventing grouping during the holiday period and spread of the Covid-19 virus.

After Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic in an interview on the Serbian TV channel “Happy” said that the “Pfizer” vaccine has not been registered in Macedonia and that this represents a problem for the delivery, Minister of Health Venko Filipce says that there is no legal barrier for receiving the vaccine against Covid-19 in our country and the first doses of the “Pfizer” vaccine that have been agreed in direct negotiations with the manufacturer, along with 8,000 doses of vaccines from Republic of Serbia, should arrive in our country with an intervention import.

High school graduates today did not attend the online classes at the start of the second semester of the school year. Organized by the High School Union, they have started a boycott because they demand to have two instead of four exams (three external and one internal subject) of the graduate exam – contrary to the position of the Ministry of Education and Science that this year there will be no changes in the number of exams, but that the exams will be with shortened curricula.

Minister of Labour and Social Policy Jagoda Shahpaska informs that within some of the analyses in government structures is also the direct financial support for persons with disabilities within the fifth set of measures for coping with the Covid crisis. According to her, an analysis is being performed on which categories have not at all been included with the measures.

Ministry of Education and Science, the Bureau for Development of Education and members of the working group, today met with teachers from each municipality in the country, hence continuing the consultative process in relation to the proposed reforms in primary education.

The attempt of the defence for associating the “Opel Omega” vehicle and the entire operation with MOI structures, is a completely incorrect thesis, both from a legal-factual and legal-logical aspect, stated today prosecutor Fatime Fetai in the concluding words for the “Monster” case.
