There’s no price the government cannot pay to buy COVID-19 vaccines, Health Minister Venko Filipche stated Wednesday, saying he believed there was a chance a batch of vaccines to arrive in the country before March.
Immunization, he added, remains one of the most crucial instruments to subdue the virus.
“All vaccines are absolutely safe,” Filipche stressed.
The Minister said talks were under way with Austria, in addition to Bulgaria, Greece and Poland, for procuring vaccines and the country was also in negotiations with vaccine manufacturers.
Vaccines will be also provided via the COVAX facility.
“Unfortunately, the participating country themselves don’t know which vaccine will be procured first via the COVAX system. It’s obvious that all the countries that had the privilege to get the shots first through the European Commission have received smaller batches than originally expected. This solidarity system is a bit delayed. We are in contact with all European countries that have offered mechanisms to help. I believe there will be a way to get the vaccines before March,” stated Filipche.
