The current COVID 19-related restrictions and the 8 pm-5 am curfew, which were enforced on April 6 and set to end on Tuesday, will be extended by a week, MIA has learned from the Commission for Infectious Diseases.
The Government will discuss the Commission recommendations later today.
North Macedonia’s main coordination crisis HQ discussed yesterday the recommendations issued by the Commission for Infectious Diseases and suggested that the government should decide at its next session to extend current COVID-19 restrictions until April 27.
If the number of new coronavirus cases and hospitalizations continues to drop, the main crisis HQ, the government said in a press release, will discuss the possibility of easing measures in the period April 27 – May 15, including: allow hospitality facilities to serve customers, but only outdoors, introduce a 9 pm – 5 am curfew, possibly allow fitness centers to hold classes, but only outside, as well as other measures depending on the epidemiological situation in the country.
Draft-measures issued by the Commission for Infectious Diseases will be discussed only if the number of new cases and hospitalized patients continues to drop, which depends on how much citizens abide by personal COVID-19 protective measures and active protocols, the press release read.
All hospitality facilities across the country, including bars, restaurants and cafés in hotels, hostels, etc., are shut down, the only exception being cafés at the Skopje and Ohrid airports, as well as hotels with guests already there. Fitness centers and betting shops are also closed, whereas a ban is in place on organizing conferences, workshops, training instruction, seminars, etc.
